小猪视频Mourns the Loss of Bruce Guthro

To the 小猪视频Community,

Today, I write to inform you that 小猪视频Honorary Degree recipient, long-time donor and supporter, and true ambassador to Cape Breton Island, Bruce Guthro passed away this week after a courageous battle with cancer.

Bruce Guthro was born and raised in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton, the seventh of nine children. Shortly after graduating, Bruce went to work in the hard rock mines of Northern Saskatchewan before returning home to pursue his passion for music and song writing. In 1998, he caught the attention of EMI Music Canada and was signed to his first international record deal.

While riding on the success of a Canadian gold record and #1 single, he was approached by the wildly successful Scottish Celtic Rock legends,聽Runrig, and offered the position of lead singer. 聽Bruce found himself 20 years later with countless awards and gold and platinum recordings from around the world. He sold well over 1 million records worldwide. While he traveled the globe and gained international recognition, Bruce always kept Cape Breton in his heart and never forgot his roots.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Kim and their children, Dylan and Jodi,聽who are following in their dad鈥檚 footsteps and are a proud part of the Nova Scotia music community.

Our community has lost a great friend, and our thoughts go to his family and his fans around the world.

I encourage you to view as Bruce shares his talent and a beautiful message to our graduating class of 2019.

Yours very truly,

David C. Dingwall
